Cutting Edge

The cutting edge of life.

Leading Edge

Reflecting on the idea of life being like a cutting edge on a piece of equipment. (The replaceable/sacrificial portion on the tip of a plow or blade.)
When we are young there are all those in our life in front of us who are doing the work and taking care of the things we are unaware of. The stresses on us are kept to a minimum.
We have all the time in the world and our responsibilites are minimal. The leading edge is far away. We are insulated from more than we know. As time goes on the number of those in front of us decrease and drop away. We begin to realize how much was being taken care of by others as the demands on us are greater. More and more with alarming persistence the leading edge gets closer until one day we realize we must lead the way.
The task becomes one of endurance and projecting the right forward intention.
