Pursuit of Profit

As a website gets established and is active for a number of years its ranking and value increases. In the pursuit of profit there are those who monitor lists of domains which, for one reason or another, have not been renewed then snatch up domain names hoping to make a profit on their resale. In many cases they sit on these domains and wait for their price to be met. (They own it, they can do what they want.) However sometimes decades can go by and all they’ve done is take the domain name out of circulation and essentially stifle internet development.
