About
When the internet first came into being it was a new frontier and there was much excitement to be a part of it. As time went on the creative energies of many were focused on perfecting their dreams of what they imagined the internet could be. Many people had their own personal websites containing knowledge of what they had passion for.
The internet was the world and Google provided you lists of destinations.
There was a time when Google had pretty much perfected their search engine / database system. It could literally provide you with the exact tidbit of info you were looking for from those unique websites. You’d swear it could almost read your mind.
Unfortunately things change. The driving force of development became commerce. Search engines began providing lists based in terms of algorithms and calculated results to promote sales. The internet, or more properly your internet search engine, became more like going to the mall.
It’s not entirely anyone’s fault, really. With the advent of social media platforms people, in general, migrated to things like Facebook for its ease of use and away from creating their own sites.
Most people probably didn’t notice though, that after a while the platforms implemented algorithms and calculated results to promote items which get people inflamed, outraged or whatever it takes to have them contribute and keep coming back.
Here at BrightHaven the thought is to be constructive, share experience, know-how, ideas and examples; perhaps in terms that keep the influence of commerce to a minimum and be a unique destination / knowledge base out there.
Stop consuming media and start creating.
Let creation determine consumption.
